10 minutes of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay in video

With just over a month to go before the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo has finally decided to speed up its communication and say more about the most anticipated game of 2023. This is how we could discover a 10-minute gameplay video, this Tuesday March 28th.

New things learned in the video

This gameplay video reveals four new powers of Link. Some of them had already been shown in previous videos, without us really knowing how they work.

This power allows you to bring an inanimate object back in time. In this video, we see Link using it on a rock falling from the sky to reach the celestial islands. In a previous trailer, we had already seen Link send a rock falling down a mountain back to the sender.

It remains to be seen whether, like the power to freeze an object in time, Hindsight will be usable on enemies or not.

Amalgam is a new power of Link's that allows him to fuse different objects into weapons. A simple stick won't let you defeat many enemies, but if you fuse it with a rock, tree trunk or pitchfork, it becomes stronger and more powerful, as well as gaining different properties.

This power can also be used with the bow, arrows and shields. By applying a bat's eye to your arrow, it will become a seeker-head. A mushroom placed on a shield will project sports on enemies that hit you.

The possibilities seem immense. This makes the combat system, which some found frustrating in Breath of the Wild, fresh, innovative and extremely fun.

Right of way

In a way, the Emprise is similar to the Amalgam, except that it allows you to merge elements of the set together. For example, three tree trunks can be fused together to easily create a raft. By attaching wheels or thrusters, they can become a car, a boat or a flying machine.

Once again, the limitations of the system will have to be seen, but we look forward to experimenting and creating the most ridiculous vehicles possible.

The final power revealed in the video is Infiltration. This power allows Link to pass through any ceiling to get above an obstacle. The power works in both dwellings and caves, no matter how deep they are.

In itself, the power doesn't look particularly interesting. However, if the rumours of an underground world are true, this power will become all the more useful for moving from one world to another.

As a reminder, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
