Valorant patch notes 5.12
The patch 5.12 of Valorant is the biggest patch we've had in a while. It brings a new game mode, but above all, it is adjusting a lot of agents and as announced a few days ago, Chamber is the most affected of them all. But the biggest change is the possibility to destroy traps via abilities. Let's take a look at it!
Key points to remember about this 5.12 patch:
- Velocity, a new game mode in beta
- Skills destroy traps
- Finally a serious nerve for Chamber
- Lots of balancing of all kinds
Velocity, a new game mode in beta
It's been a while since Valorant had a new game mode! From 6th December to 10th January 2023, you will be able to play Velocity. This is an ultra-fast version of Valorant, condensed in just 8 rounds with a side change after the 4th round. The first team to win 5 points wins the game.
The rules of the game are the same, except that the credit wins are increased, with fixed wins at the beginning of each round. Players also start each half with 2 Ultimate points.
Skills destroy Traps
As of patch 5.12, Agents' abilities can destroy destructible objects such as Killjoy's Lockdown or Cypher's Trap Wire. As a result, many traps now have a HP gauge greater than 1 to make them more or less resistant to different abilities, as you can see in the Agent changes below.
In order to prevent teammates from destroying your skills, some of them become immune to allied fire and skills. These are the following competences:
Rendezvous, Trademark, SpyCam, Prowler, Haunt, ZERO/POINT, Alarmbot, Lockdown, Blastpack, Boom Bot, Seekers, Trailblazer, Owl Drone, Recon Bolt, Gatecrash, Fakeout.
Finally a serious nerve for Chamber
Chamber has dominated the meta for too long now, and it was time for him to be properly balanced. These changes were already explained a few days ago, but let's go over the main points:
Headhunter
- The skill has a higher dispersion past the second bullet fired.
Rendezvous
- Chamber now has only one teleportation beacon.
- The radius of use of the beacon is much larger (13 metres).
- It takes Chamber longer to equip himself with his weapon after teleportation.
- Chamber no longer triggers an additional recovery time when he recalls his beacon after a teleportation
- If the beacon is destroyed, it is no longer recoverable and cannot be used until the next round.
- The beacon's HP has been reduced.
Trademark
- The initial arm time takes twice as long.
- Chamber must now be within reach of the trap to make it work.
- Chamber can take his trap back, even if it is out of his sight
- Recalling the trap triggers a 30-second recovery time
- The destruction of the trap is final
- The trap has more HP
Tour de force
- The rate of fire was reduced from 57.5%
