yay signs with Cloud9

While OpTic Gaming has not secured its place to play in VCT Americas next year, yay was forced to look for a new team. As one of the best players in the world, he did not have to wait long before finding a new organisation. He has just sign with Cloud9.

Jaccob " yay " Whiteaker is considered to be one of the best players in the world on Valorant. The American spent the year defending the colours of OpTic Gaming, one of the most regular teams in the VCT but also one of the best in the NA region.

In addition to finishing second in both Challengers of the Year, yay and his teammates won the Reykjavik Masters. However, they did not stop there, as they also got a top 3 at the Copenhagen Masters and were not far from being the new world champions. They were unfortunately defeated by LOUD in the final of the Valorant Champions.

For the 2023 season, we won't get to see them play together again, as OpTic Gaming is not one of the teams chosen to play in VCT Americas. Thus, the entire roster has been allowed to explore new options and yay is no exception. He announced on his Twitter account that he is open to offers to play in North America.

Some time later, the player found a new home, which is not surprising given his performance. He will therefore play for Cloud9 next season alongside, among others, leaf or Xeppaa.

We wish him good luck with his new team and hope to see him shine as much as he did with OpTic Gaming.
