VCT 2022 Masters 1 will be held in Reykjavik

The information was recently revealed by the official account of Valorant on the Chinese website Weibo. The VCT 2022 Masters 1 will be held in Reykjavik.

Once again, Iceland's capital will host the first international event of the year. The country previously hosted the Masters 2 in 2021, which was won by the American team Sentinels.

Last year's event took place over one week, this year it will take place over two weeks. If the dates do not change, it should take place from 10th to 24th April.

According to the information provided, twelve teams will be able to qualify and each region has a defined number of slots.

  • 3 slots: EMEA
  • 2 slots: NA/APAC
  • 1 slot: Korea/ Brazil/Japan/LATAM/SA

As in the previous year, the highest ranked teams in the Challengers will get their place in Masters 1. This should also be the case for the qualification for Masters 2.

No details on the format have been released yet, but Riot Games has published a table showing the number of points earned by each team based on their ranking in the Challengers and Masters.

Points system 2022

It is assumed that these points, like last year, will be used by teams to secure their place in the final event of the season: the Valorant Champions.
