Ninjas in Pyjamas recruits Sayf: Hyp and Fearoth sidelined
With the end of the Ignition Series comes the time to take stock. For Ninjas in Pyjamas, the results of its team push them to make some changes. Sayf joins the team, as Hyp and Fearoth lose their place in NiP.
The line-up of Ninjas in Pyjamas seems unstable, to say the least. When Valorant launched, the organisation had a team based on its Paladins players, two times World Champions of Hi-Rez Studios' FPS. A few weeks later, various problems caused the Ninjas to let its various players go and start from scratch by recruiting rhyme and luckeRRR.
At the launch of the Ignition Series, Ninjas in Pyjamas recruited three players from team HypHypHyp : Hyp, Fearoth and Crea. Since then, the results have been mixed. The new Ninjas in Pyjamas line-up dominated the majority of amateur and semi-professional teams, but never managed to convince against big names as G2 Esports, FunPlus Phoenix or Team Liquid.
Even more damaging in terms of image, this team has lost every game against Bonk. Bonk is a team created by Bonkar, one of the players of the original Ninjas' line-up. It gets very solid results since then, which suggests that the Ninjas have backed the wrong horse.
Today, the Ninjas in Pyjamas and Bonk meet again. Bonk recently announced the departure ofEmil, Sayf and Xadjdish. Emil became the coach of Ninjas in Pyjamas and he's probably no stranger to the recruitment of Sayf in the team.
Coming into NiP, it was clear that we weren’t performing as well as we wanted to, and Sayf is one of the most versatile players in the scene. He got my attention during our time together in Bonk, and I can say with confidence that he is a future star. In my mind he is one of the best Valorant players already and I’m happy to have him onboard. I think these changes were necessary and I will continue to work hard to make us a top tier contender!Emil “eMIL” Sandgren, new coach of Ninjas in Pyjamas
It's not known whether Sayf's departure is the result of his recruitment or the other way around. Still, Ninjas in Pyjamas make a Bonk player its own. Will we soon see Xadjdish join his teammate?
In the meantime, Hyp and Fearoth are still part of Ninjas in Pyjamas. They join however the bench of substitutes. A rather ungrateful position for players of this calibre, as they are rarely expected to play official matches. In a message to his fans, Fearoth doesn't hide his annoyance at such a situation. He also denounces a lack of communication between the staff and the players.
You cannot imagine the frustration and the feeling of injustice that I feel, when all the professional environment in which you operate leads you to believe that everything is fine and congratulates you for your work and finally benches you overnight because a choice had to be made. I'm just disappointed that there hasn't been a dialogue between the players and the coaching staff/management of NiP to explore the options and the future of the team.Enzo « fearoth » Mestari
We will see if this situation satisfies the player or if he will seek to reinstate the ranks of the official roster, whether in Ninjas in Pyjamas or elsewhere.
