G2 Esports make changes
G2 Esports has finalized its roster for the 2022 season by recruiting Johan ' Meddo ' Renbjörk Lundborg, Aaro ' hoody ' Peltokangas, and Daniil ' pipsoN ' Mesheryakov, three former members of Giants Gaming.
The trio distinguished themselves by finishing second in the Challengers 3 of Phase 3, which allowed them to qualify for the play-offs. During the play-offs, they were eliminated by G2 Esports just before they could qualify for the Masters in Berlin. This defeat resulted in a complete elimination from the VCT, as they did not have enough points to qualify for Champions.
They went on to win the third edition of the LVP Rising Series, and made a top 3-4 at the fourth edition. They finished the year with a top 3 at the Red Bull Home Ground #2, after being beaten by Acend in the semi-finals.
After being fired by Giants a few weeks ago, all three have just been recruited by the team that prevented them from reaching Masters 3. Meddo and hoody join G2 Esports as players, and pipsoN as coach.
But it doesn't stop there for G2! In addition to these recruitments, the organisation announced that it was putting keloqz on the bench, giving him the possibility to explore other options. In addition, the contract of their coach, neilzhinho , has just ended and has not been renewed for the 2022 season.
After a slow start to the season, the team made a few changes of players that allowed the new roster to perform much better afterwards . Qualified for Berlin Masters, they made a top 3-4, then participated in the Last Chance Qualifier EMEA. Defeated by Team Liquid,, then by Guild Esports, they finished on a top 3 which ended their VCT season.
Their last result at the Red Bull Home Ground #2 was not very satisfactory and it is from this moment that the organisation started looking for new players. It is hoped that this new blood will do them good and that the team will be back in top form for the start of the next VCT season.
