Dates and format of the 1st Game Changers EMEA 2022

As qualification for the first Challengers of the year has begun around the world, Riot Games recently revealed the dates and format of the first Game Changers EMEA 2022.

What is the VCT Game Changers?

For those who may not have heard of it last year, the VCT Game Changers is a set of competitions dedicated exclusively to women. It aims to help them evolve in the competitive environment while offering them visibility.

In 2021, the Game Changers EMEA consisted of two qualifying tournaments and a final tournament, open to Europe, Turkey and CIS. This year, the format will be slightly different. Teams will be able to participate in three competitions taking place in January, May and September respectively.

Those who win these stages will automatically qualify for the global Game Changers, the ultimate event which will take place in November. It will bring together the best teams from each region, just like the Valorant Champions.

How will the 1st Game Changers EMEA 2022 take place?

In this first tournament, a maximum of 128 teams will be able to participate. The first two days will be qualifying rounds, during which teams will compete in single elimination BO1 matches. Afterwards, the top 32 teams will advance to the main event, which will be played in BO3 double elimination matches, except for the Grand Final, which will be a BO5.

The qualifying rounds of this first tournament will on 24th January and end on 26th January. The main event will be held from 31st January to 6th February, with matches taking place every day.
