Vitality and FUT Esports, winners of the second day of the VCT EMEA 2023

The League segment of the VCT EMEA 2023 is now launched. On the first day, Fnatic and KOI were the winners, yesterday it was the players from Team Vitality and FUT Esports who shone. Both of them won over their opponents, respectively Team Liquid and Team Heretics, but not without difficulty. Here is a summary of the second day of competition.

FUT Esports, imperial

MAP 1 - Pearl
FUT Esports 13 - 4 Team Heretics

MAP 2 - Lotus
FUT Esports 13 - 9 Team Heretics

The second day of matches began with the confrontation between Team Heretics and FUT Esports. During the LOCK//IN Brazil, these two teams left the adventure prematurely, the first one at the opening match, the other one after its second match. The start of the VCT EMEA was therefore an opportunity for them to get back on track and shine in front of the spectators at Messe Berlin. And FUT Esports didn't hesitate to show them off!

Supported by qw1 and his Raze, the Turkish team completely dominated Pearl, first map of the match. At the switch, FUT Esports was leading 11-2, and it didn't take long for them to win 13 to 4 once in Attack.

It must be said that during the Defence phase, qw1 did a titanic job of repelling his opponents and thus displayed 21 eliminations for only 4 deaths at the end of it. More than efficient, it is not surprising that his ACS reached a score of 463.

Galvanised by their victory, the FUT Esports took the first two points on Lotus, thanks, in particular, to a 4K from AtaKaptan. However, the players of Team Heretics were in a hurry to wash away the affront they had just suffered, racking up no less than 8 victories to take the lead. A superb 4K, from MrFaliN this time, ended the opponent's momentum just before the changeover. As a result, Team Heretics only led 8-4 at the end of the first half.

FUT Esports took advantage of this momentum to put the second pistol-round, well, qRaxs to be exact, who single-handedly took down four opponents while in a 1 vs 4 situation.

This victory was only the first of many that would allow the Turkish team to come back. They eventually took a second win, 13-9, and won the match.

Vitality dominates

MAP 1 - Haven
Liquid 6 - 13 Vitality

MAP 2 - Fracture
Liquid 13 - 2 Vitality

MAP 3 - Lotus
Liquid 10 - 13 Vitality

Once again, this was a golden opportunity for Team Vitality and Team Liquid to show what they are really capable of; both teams were quickly eliminated at the LOCK//IN Brazil. The least we can say is that this meeting was quite unique. The first two maps were the scene of real stomps!

Extremely effective in Attack, on Haven, Vitality won eight successive rounds and led 9-3 at the change. Always solid in defence, they soon made up the four missing rounds and won 13-6.

Despite this painful defeat, Team Liquid has not lost its way, especially not Sayf. Once on Fracture, he was precise and efficient, to the point of posting an ACS of 429 at the end of the Defence phase, accumulating 20 kills for only 2 eliminations. A monster! After the switch, Team Liquid didn't even give their opponent time to take a single extra point, winning the first two rounds and even the bonus round. In doing so, they in turn inflicted a heavy defeat, 13-2, on the opposing team.

With the score tied, it took a third and final map to determine the winner of the evening. It was on Lotus that everything was played. As we perceived yesterday and saw again with the previous match, this map is particularly complex to dominate. It is therefore not surprising that the final score is much closer, 13-10 in Vitality's advantage over the other two maps, with each team gaining an advantage over the other during the defence phase. With a second win, Vitality won the match.

After the game, Twisten was asked about the fact that Vitality may not be seen as a top team in the EMEA region by everyone. To this he simply replied that Vitality would do everything to prove them wrong, and that the team would continue to improve in future games.

The regular season continues, with new matches scheduled for this Wednesday 29th March. For their second match, Natus Vincere and Giants will face each other from 6pm, while Karmine Corp and BBL Esports will make their first steps in the VCT EMEA at around 9pm.
