VCT EMEA matches postponed due to war in Ukraine
Last week, the organisers of the VCT in Europe, Freaks4U and Riot Games, decided to postpone the third week of the VCT EMEA 2022 competition due to the crisis in Ukraine.
As stated in the official tweet, Riot Games' main concern is to protect the players and staff members of the organisations participating in Challengers EMEA. As a reminder, among all the players who have joined Challengers 1, 13 are Russian and 2 are Ukrainian. The latter are playing for Gambit Esports and Natus Vincere.
During this week of competition, 6 matches were initially scheduled:
- LDN UTD vs FunPlusPhoenix
- G2 Esports vs BBL Esports
- Natus Vincere vs Gambit Esports
- BIG vs Team Liquid
- Guild vs SuperMassive Blaze
- Acend vs Fnatic
At this time, no further information has been released regarding the future dates of these games; however, Riot has clarified on Twitter that the new schedule is forthcoming.
The next match of these Challengers, scheduled for this Saturday, is between Natus Vincere and FunPlus Phoenix.
