The steps of the Valorant Champions Tour

The Valorant Champions Tour is the official Riot Games esports circuit for 2021. It's a series of tournaments that take place all around the world, throughout the year. Each stage of this circuit aims to bring together the teams of the Valorant Champions, the Valorant World Championships, which will take place in December 2021.

This is a fairly complex format circuit, so let's see how each step works.

The Valorant Champions Tour is split into three different competitive levels, the Challengers, the Masters and the Champions. These steps are the same all over the world.

Step 1: the Valorant Challengers

The tournaments Valorant Challengers are the first stages of the Champions Tour. All teams that hope to become World Champions will necessarily have to play them, starting at the bottom of the ladder.

The Valorant Challengers are regional tournaments aiming to determine the best teams from each Valorant sever. These are tournaments open to all teams of five who wish to participate. Depending on the region, there may be some restrictions on the minimum player rank in competitive mode.

Challengers tournaments operate in groups of three. The best teams from these tournaments qualify for the next Valorant Masters tournament. Teams that have come far enough in a Challengers tournament, but don't win it, qualify for the finals of the next Challengers tournament.

Depending on the region, the dates, the format of these tournaments and the number of matches to be played at each stage may vary.

Step 2: the Valorant Masters

The Valorant Masters tournaments are intended to be international meetings in LAN. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, these tournaments will be limited to regional online finals, until further notice.

There are three Valorant Masters in the year, in March, June, and September.

What's the Champions Last Chance?

The Valorant Champions Last Chance represents, as the name suggests, the last chance for teams to qualify for the World Championships. It's not known if the tournament will be open to everyone of if it will be reserved for the Valorant Masters losers. To tell the truth, not much is known about this step, except that the winners will be able to participate in the Valorant Champions.

Le Champions Last Chance aura lieu au mois d’octobre 2021.

Last step: the Valorant Champions

The Valorant Champions is the World Championship of Valorant. It brings together the winners of the Valorant Masters and Last Chance from each region. This is the ultimate international tournament.

Despite the pandemic, Riot Games has ensured that this will be the biggest Valorant event of the year, no matter what. The developers hope to be able to bring all the players together on stage, even if they cannot accommodate an audience.

The Valorant Champions will run for two full weeks of competition in December 2021.
