ZE1SH replaces Newzera in Karmine Corp's VCT roster
On the evening of Wednesday 19th April, Karmine Corp has announced the withdrawal of one of the members of the team that is competing in the VCT EMEA. This is Alexis Humbert, better known under the pseudonym Newzera. It appears that this initiative came from the player himself. Although he has been sidelined, he has not indicated that he is ending his professional career. In order to continue the competition, the organisation has replaced him with Ahmed El Sheikh, alias ZE1SH, the team's assistant coach.
For several weeks now, the French structure has been competing in the EMEA League. If its first match, against BBL Esports, ended on a victory. The next few meetings did not produce the expected results. Currently, the Karmine Corp is seventh in the regular season standings, they are tied with KOI, with only one match won out of four played.
It is possible that the team's struggles and the pressure of the tournament played a part in Newzera's decision to withdraw from the roster. It would not be the first time that a player made the choice to moving on from the top level for such reasons. At the moment we do not have any more information about his decision. However, the player said on Twitter that he would soon make a statement on his choice.
The fact that Alexis is going from active to inactive means that a third player has to take the vacant slot in the roster. With the VCT 2023 regulations, this is the task of ZE1SH, the team's assistant coach and reserve player. He explained through social networks, he will also take on the role of in-game leader for future games, so that ScreaM can concentrate on his own gameplay. Even though, as he says in his press release, "he doesn't have the skill of Newzera", ZE1SH plays regularly on stream with the team members and has demonstrated his know-how.
ZE1SH will make his first appearance as a player soon, as KCorp will face Natus Vincere on 21st April at around 6pm. If you wish to follow the meeting, please visit the Twitch channel of the French League.
