Unlocking Agents will change in Valorant from Episode 7

Episode 7 of VALORANT is gradually taking shape, and with it the major changes coming to Valorant. Already mentioned earlier this week, Riot Games details the changes to progression in Valorant and how Agents will be unlocked from now on.

It's Riot Preeti, Lead Producer of Valorant, who explains the new system in a video. Let's see the key points!

Agent Contracts replaced by Agent Events

This is the major change to the progression system: Agent contracts will disappear in favour of Agent events. When a new Agent is released, an event dedicated to the Agent will start out as a sort of mini battlepass. Every game you play will earn you experience that will go into this event until you can unlock the Agent for free.

However, these events are temporary. If the event ends, you'll only be able to unlock the agent by buying it. Don't panic, though - you won't necessarily have to pull out your bank card just yet.

New currency: Kingdom Credits

For each game played in Valorant, whatever the game mode, you'll earn Kingdom credits. This is a new currency that you can spend to unlock Agents that have already been out for a while, as well as various items, skins and customisation elements. Rewards that were previously unlocked one by one in Agent contracts can now be purchased individually with Kingdom Credits.

You'll also earn daily Kingdom bonus credits. There are 4 bonuses to unlock per day, for different levels of experience reached each day.

Accessories shop

The accessories shop is a new shop where you can spend your Kingdom credits. This shop contains items from previous battle passes which is renewed every week. It's a new opportunity to unlock them if you've missed out on these passes. It's also, and above all, a way of obtaining these items without spending a single euro, even though you'll have to wait for them to arrive in the shop before you can buy them.

It remains to be seen whether players will get to grips with this new system. Depending on the balance of Kingdom credit earnings, it could take more or less time to unlock the game's Agents.

All these changes will come at the launch of Episode 7, scheduled for the end of June.
