Sunset, the new Valorant map unveiled at Valorant Champions
Riot Games couldn't conclude its competitive Valorant Champions season without giving a glimpse into the future of Valorant. They presented Gekko in the LOCK//IN and Deadlock in the Masters Tokyo. This time, they unveil Sunseta brand new map that the developers are particularly keen on.
Sunset is a map inspired by the various districts of Los Angeles around the premises of Riot Games. Between traffic jams and art deco architecture, the Agents will have to battle it out to control the 2 sites and the 3 ways of the map illuminated by the Californian sunset.
The map contains a number of gameplay elements already seen in other maps, such as the armoured doors that need to be activated, but it has one major feature in particular: its midway point.
According to Joe Lansford, Sunset's Lead Map Designer, the map has been designed so that control of the middle path is crucial to determine which team emerges victorious from a round. This mid has been designed to give no advantage to either Defence or Attack, to make it as even a playing field as possible whatever the phase of play.
For the moment, the elements revealed about Sunset are too limited for us to form a concrete opinion. The map will be playable by influencers and pros from tomorrow evening, which should give us a clearer idea!
