MAD Lions buys TENSTAR and integrates VRL France for the Split 2
The VRL France is back on 9 May, but with a few changes! First of all, the number of participants has changed, as there are now 10 teams who will compete against each other. And among the newcomers, we find the old ones TENSTAR under the banner of the MAD Lions.
MAD Lions is a Spanish structure that enters Valorant by signing some very nice headliners of different nationalities. We find in particular the French Alexandre " xms " Strong, former Alliance player, but also the Croatian Domagoj " Doma " Fancev, a former player of Fnatic. This team has made a name for itself in Europe in the past. In the previous VCT, the TENSTARs managed to reach the top of the 4th place of the Challengers 2 EU in phase 3, beating BDS in the process.
More recently, the roster tried their luck at the new VCT edition by attempting to qualify for the first Challengers EU. Unfortunately this attempt was not successful, and the team exited the split 1, losing to LDN UTD during the second Closed Qualifier.
With the lack of qualification for this tournament, the roster was nevertheless able to integrate one of the VRL. It is in the VRL Northern Europe : Polaris, that these players fought hard. By finishing third in the regular season, TENSTAR qualified for the playoffs. In the Grand Final, however, the team lost to EXCEL Esports in an intense rematch!
Today, these players are pursuing their careers under a new banner. Moreover, they will play in another league in the future. As officially announced on the Twitter of the Valorant Regional League France, the team will now join the French league for the second split.
We are very much looking forward to seeing our new team compete with the MAD Lions during Split 2. The VRL France resumes on 9th May and by then a new team should be announced.
