Icebox returns with Episode 8 of Valorant

Valorant's official X account has revealed the next rotation mapswhich will be available with Episode 8. Icebox will replace Haven in Competition mode and that the developers will take advantage of this new arc to update Lotus.

The great return of Icebox

By now we're used to Valorant cards disappearing from the map pool to receive a well-deserved facelift. Icebox has left the map bench for Competition mode For several months now, nine to be precise, we've had no news of his return to the game. But... the wait is over! We know Icebox will be playable again with Episode 8 of Valorantwhich should begin the week of 8 january.

Note that this will be an updated version, and with such a long withdrawal - the longest since the launch of the FPS - we can expect some major upheavals on the groundBut small changes will do just as well. You'll remember the extent to which changing the angle of the yellow container was implemented with patch 4.04 had changed the way the A site was played.

Icebox : Map Valorant

At present, we have no information about the areas that the developers have decided to rework. However, we can make a few assumptions. The area stretching from Mid Blue to Mid Boiler is particularly critical, as it is the rotation zone between the two sites. On the Attackers' side, it's a bit "death row there's so little protection. It is possible that the designers will add radianite blocks or any other obstacle to make this space more balanced.

The idea of a new connection between the two sites, for example via an underground tunnel, or using teleporters, is far more utopian, but not completely unthinkable. Adding such a connection would inevitably mean rethinking strategies for attacking or defending the sites, and the map would become even more competitive as a result. We can't wait to see what Riot Games has in store for us!

Episode 8 - Rotation of Valorant maps

Icebox will soon be back in Classified games. Of course, it won't be the only map available. As usual, the studio is keeping just seven:

  • Icebox
  • Sunset
  • Breeze
  • Ascent
  • Bind
  • Split
  • Lotus

The latter will be updated during Episode 8, and we'll keep you informed of any changes as they become available.
