The best backgrounds in Starfield

At the time of creating your character, Starfield will ask you to choose Background of your hero. This background is simply the equivalent of Origins in more traditional RPGs. They will have a certain impact on the way you play, but also on your interactions with the other characters in the game.


What is the purpose of History

History will allow you to choose a set of 3 starting skills for your character. Don't worry though, just because you don't start with some of them doesn't mean you'll never get them. All the skills on offer are level 1 skills that are very easy to pick up.

The most interesting long-term impact of your background, on the other hand, will be how you will be perceived by the other characters. Most people will not know anything about you, but some can access your civil and medical records and form a certain opinion of you based on your origins. Some of these your dialogue options will also be different depending on where you come from and who you're talking to.

On the whole, there's nothing that has a huge impact on the storyline or the way you progress through Starfield, but they are interesting little extras to consider.


What is the best track record?

There isn't really a best background, it all depends on what you want for your character. Choosing a background that suits you will still give you a 3-level head start on the skills that interest you. What's more, to improve your skills, you'll need to complete challenges. The sooner you have the skills you're interested in, the sooner you'll be able to start the challenges to improve them.

If you're more interested in fightingwe advise you to play Private or Life of crime.

If you prefer the type to discusswe recommend Diplomat for peaceful solutions or Industry for your maximum benefit.

If you want to explore as much as possiblewe recommend Pilgrimage for walks or Xenobiologist for analysis of strange creatures and environments.

When choosing your background, be sure to choose one that is consistent with your own. personality traits available.
