Catching Pokémon on the way to the Lighthouse - Solution Part 3 - Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Continuation of the solution to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with this Part 3: Capturing Pokémon on the way to the Lighthouse.
In this section we will:
- Leaving the village and going on the road
- Capturing our first Pokémon
- Learning to stroll
Goodbye Mum
After your fight with Menzi, follow her back to Clavel's house. You will see her in the middle of a discussion with your mother. It's time to say goodbye, but she won't let you leave without giving you a few items and a sandwich. Keep it carefully, you will need it soon.

Menzi then leaves for the Cuchagala Road to teach you how to catch wild Pokémon. Head back up the trail to your house, but head north as soon as you get a chance to find it.

Catching your first Pokémon
It's time for Menzi to teach you the basics of catching Pokémon from a Gourmelet! The technique is simple: lower your opponent's HP by performing one or two attacks, then throw your Pokéball.

To learn more about the mechanics of capture, we have put together a comprehensive guide to help you capture Pokémon more easily.
Once you have your first wild Pokémon in your pocket, Menzi suggests that you meet at the Lighthouse at the end of the road.
Take your time and stroll along the roads
You could head straight for the lighthouse, but we highly recommend taking detours to capture as many different Pokémon as possible and pick up items.
On this first route, there is already a wide variety of Pokémon to catch.

Gourmelet
Type : Normal

Tissenboule
Type : Insect

Granivol
Type : Plant Flight

Pohm
Type : Électrik

Lepidonilla
Type : Insect

Passerouge
Type : Normal Flight
If you chose Headdress, as we did, capturing a Granivol gives you a Plant Pokémon, while Passerouge becomes a Fire-Flight Pokémon as it evolves. Pohm becomes an Electrik Combat Pokémon. So you can already start making a balanced team.

In addition to catching Pokémon, feel free to look behind trees or rocks, or in tall grass. You will regularly find Pokéballs or small glittering objects. By collecting them, you will get a variety of very useful items for your journey.
It is impossible to list the locations of these items as they are random and regularly reappear a few hours after being picked up.

These remarks about catching Pokémon and collecting items are valid for the whole game! Don't necessarily go out and complete your objectives straight away, take the time to enjoy your journey.
When you are ready, head towards the lighthouse. You will hear a strange howling sound...
