16th November 2020 – 7pm
The third week of the Valorant First Strike North America is complete. For many teams, this is the end of the dream. There are now only 20 teams left which can hope to win the American Championships. Back to a new week of competition.
This time, UMG organised the two qualifying tournaments. The top 6 teams from these two tournaments joined the unfortunate 4 finalists of the Nerd Street Gamers final tournament.
UMG Open Qualifier 1 :
UMG Open Qualifier 2 :
NSG Closed Qualifier :
Most of the teams that qualified in these two new open tournaments are those that had corrsed paths with the favourites. We can for example note the presence of Moon Raccoons and Andox who respectively lost against 100 Thieves and Luminosity Gaming.
We also note that it took two tournaments before Gen.G Esports, yet 4th in the Open Qualifier of Nerd Street Gamers, manages to qualify for a new closed tournament. This is what we remember for most of the great American teams who didn't survive Week 1. Besides Immortals and Dignitas, the first UMG qualifier has especially allowed smaller teams to show what they were capable of. The second UMG qualifier allowed the qualification in extremis of large structures like NRG Esports, Luminosity Gaming, FaZe Clan and the Pittsburgh Knights.
The UMG Closed Qualifier will therefore be the last chance for the remaining 16 teams to participate in the Valorant First Strike NA. If we go by the two UMG Open Tournaments, we would be tempted to predict the victory of the small teams! But we must not forget that the American tenors TSM, Cloud9, T1 and Complexity will join the party, following the Nerd Street Gamers Closed Qualifier. Above all, they will have to be eliminated in priority.
The competition resumes on 19th November and will be broadcast on UMG Twitch channel.
