In their latest State of the Agents article, Riot revealed new details about the next Valorant Agent. Spoiler: it will be a Sentinel ! We also got some information about Jett, Skye, KAY/O and Yoru. Let's take a look!
Riot has been teasing the next Valorant Agent for a few months now. Last June, when the Anthem of the Year 1 was released, we were already speaking of Deadeye, the one who will probably be the 18th Agent of the game. This time, Riot reveals a little more and announces that the next Valorant Agent will be a Sentinel:
We took a step back and thought about different ways to provide another Sentinel to the roster. A Sentinel that focuses on mechanical outplays, with an additional focus of gunplay into the mix for an extra flourish.John Goscicki, VALORANT Character Producer
This character will be the 4th Sentinel in the game, alonside Sage, Cypher and Killjoy. We already have some information on the Agent and in particular on their weapon, which is certainly the one found at the ends of Fracture. We can also see the bullets of this gun in trailer of this last map. From these clues, we can deduce that his gameplay will certainly be based on their signature weapon. Deadeye's style of play will be different from what we've seen so far in this type of Agents and will rely more on the technical abilities of the players.
The article also gives us new evidence that the next Agent is indeed French ! In addition to the French accent of the narrator in the Fracture trailer, John Goscicki, VALORANT Character Producer, promises us "heights higher than the Eiffel Tower" for the next recruit of the game. We also note the title "CTRL+F Next Agent", where the F undoubtedly refers to France.
Riot not only talked about Deadeye in their article, but also focused on Jett, Skye, KAY/O and Yoru. Regarding the duelist, John Goscicki reaffirms his desire to keep the Agent's unique role within the teams.
As for the two Initiators, we learn that the objective is to make KAY/O more viable and Skye less strong. The latter has thus been nerfed in Patch 3.06, while KAY/O benefits from a small buff. Riot also reassures Yoru fans that they are working on his design and that changes are to be expected. Unfortunately, we haven't had any further news about the Agent, Patch 3.07 being very small.
Good news, the article explains that the teams are keenly studying the impact of abilities in-game and are looking at specific stats that will allow them to better balance all the elements of the game. We can therefore expect further changes in the future, especially concerning abilities in Valorant!
