When they announced the release of Valorant, Anna Donlon and Joe Ziegler took the opportunity to suggest that anew game mode would be available. We now know a few details about it, via various tweets and a post on the game’s official website.
First of all, this new game mode will not necessarily be available from 2nd June. This date was given in the best case scenario, but it may not be ready within a few weeks post-release. The development of a game, especially in this period, can be quite chaotic; it’s not always possible to anticipate last minute problems, especially when you are preparing to release a game worldwide.
Valorant developers want to keep the surprise regarding the content ot this mode, so we don’t know exactly what it is. We do know, however, thatit will not be team deathmatch, even if it was mentioned a few weeks ago by one of the developers.
The goal of this first alternative game mode will be to provide a shorter and lighter game experience. Sometimes, you don’t necessarily have the time or the desire to devote fully to a game for more than half an hour. It’s therefore useful to have faster and less stressful game modes in order to rediscover the feelings of Valorant during short sessions.
In addition, there’s a good chance that this mode is temporary. Development teams are considering a regular rotation of different alternative game modes. It’s a system that Riot is familiar with since it’s already has been implemented in League of Legends. These rotations keep the freshness of modes that tend to run out of steam over the long term.
More information on this game mode should be announced soon.
