FunPlus Phoenix gets into Valorant with an European team. Its players will not be unfamiliar to you, as it's a mixture of players from FABRIKEN and PartyParrots.
The future of Valorant's European esports scene looked relatively uncertain a few weeks ago. Few organisations dared to get into Valorant and the various amateurs lost hope of being able to live off Valorant. Things have been improving over the past few days, with, in a first time, the official introduction of Fish123 in Team Liquid and now the launch of the FunPlus Phoenix Valorant team.
This name is not unfamiliar to you if you're interested in esports or Riot Games. FunPlus Phoenix is the organisation that won the League of Legends World Championship in 2019. The Chinese organisation wants to go international and are doing so through its new Valorant team.
The players are therefore former players of the PartyParrots and FABRIKEN teams. These teams had announced their respective disband two weeks ago. The Ignition Series x Mandatory.GG Cup was their last tournament. Since then, there have been a few rumours of a merge. It seems they were justified.
PartyParrots and FABRIKEN had in common that they were two independent teams. Despite this, they have always managed to make a name for themselves in the various European tournaments, often by crushing the competitions with qualifiers. A fusion of these talents could give explosive results.
