How to beat the Almudron
The Almudron is as dangerous as it is elusive. As long as the Almudron is off the ground, it is easy to reach, but it will try to lash out with its tail. Be careful when you see it wiggle or squeal, as it will throw its weight into the air. For the rest, its attacks are rather similar to other monsters of this morphology, like the Ludroth Royal or the Mizutsune. They are quite telegraphed and you should easily see them coming as long as he is on land. The trouble is, he never stays there very long...
This monster spends its time burying itself and swimming in the mud. Unlike other large monsters that will always want to get close to you to hit you, the Almudron prefers to stay away and attack you from a distance. This makes it difficult to follow and attack, especially with slow or short-range weapons. In addition, its head and tail tip, which are its only weak points, are usually perched too high to reach.
Lying in the mud, he will usually create waves of mud or shoot his tail out of the ground to hit you. He is unable to hit behind him, however, which makes him particularly vulnerable, especially when he is busy attacking a chumsky or another player.
The Almudron is capable of storing a large stockpile of mud in the form of a sphere contained at the end of its tail. It is possible (and even advisable) to destroy this stockpile, otherwise it will be able to create walls of earth to obstruct your vision and throw tsunamis at you without you realising it. These walls can however be used to your advantage. By climbing them, you can dodge these waves of mud, but also reach the head of the monster.
It is imperative that you dodge all Almudron mud attacks, as they inflict the Water damage, tiring your character and greatly reducing your maximum stamina.
